Intro to Lead Climbing Class

Our Intro to Lead Climbing Class is a great way for Hangar 18 members to further advance their climbing skills. This class will teach you all of the basic skills needed to successfully lead climb. The class is broken up into 3 separate classes which will take place on the first 3 weeks of the month. In between the classes you will be able to practice the techniques you have learned the previous week at any Hangar 18 facility that offers top rope climbing. Upon the completion of the course, you will be lead certified with Hangar 18 and able to lead climb at all applicable Hangar 18 facilities. Please note there are prerequisites to this class which must be met prior to signing up for this class. Please read the below information thoroughly to ensure you are able to participate in this class prior to signing up.

Topics Covered:
-How to properly clip into a quickdraw
-Proper footwork for lead climbing
-Lead climbing route reading
-How to lead belay using a Gri-Gri belay device
-How to take lead falls

Class Includes:
-3 week instruction on lead climbing technique
-Lead climbing rope provided for the duration of the class
-Extra discount on lead climbing rope purchase at the completion of the class

-$95 per Member participant
-$130 per Non-Member participant

Additional Information:
-Participants must complete all 3 weeks of instruction in order to become Hangar 18 lead certified
-Participants who cannot show that they meet all prerequisites at the beginning of the first class will be immediately dropped from the class with a full refund
-Participants who miss a class or due not pass requirements to move onto next class will be moved to the appropriate class the following month
-Participants who fail to complete the course due to missed classes over multiple months or due to not wishing to complete the course after week 1 will not be given a refund
